This guide will help you download and install Thea for SketchUp on Windows and macOS. After the completion of the installation, the integration will be added to SketchUp and a ‘Thea Data’ folder will be created with files needed for the plugin to work properly.

Let’s take a look at the installation steps.

Download the installer

The first step is to get a copy of the installer.

Licensed users: The installers can be downloaded from the Altair One Marketplace

  1. Click on the ‘Sign In’ button and use your email and password
  2. After signing in, Thea for SketchUp and Thea Node should be displayed
  3. Click on Thea for SketchUp and from the ‘Download’ tab, select the installer (Windows or macOS)

Trial Users: The installers can be download from the main menu by clicking on the TRY button.

    2. Sample Thea Materials: Tick this option if you want the installer to add sample materials that can be accessed from the content browser
  4. Choose Thea Data Location: This folder contains all Thea materials, models and temporary files. You can either leave this to the default location or select a different one. Please make sure that your Windows account has admin rights for read/write

  1. Open the dmg file that is contained in the .zip archive that you downloaded
  2. Execute the .pkg file to start the installation
  3. In the screen that is presented, select the detected SketchUp versions that you want the integration to be installed
    1. Nvidia Optix Denoiser: This option is only available for systems having an NVIDIA gpu
    2. Sample Materials: This option will add sample materials to the ‘Thea Data’ folder which can then be accessed from the content browser window
