So if you want it to happen to you, just model a flat plane, subdivide it and top it with a chimney. Find some nice material for the chimney because the material for the roof is covered!

You can rotate the maps if you like. I like to align them like this because they become vertically oriented automatically in Sketchup.

I was looking at the images and how the light is falling. Looked like tiles are paralled to the slope of the roof.
