Hello,
i started using thea 2-3 weeks ago and found the learning curve not very easy :) partly because the tutorials are rare and just brush up on the main points. The thea pdf is more thorough but reading a 300 page book is not that user friendly as a voice narrated video tutorial :). I still do not understand many concepts (or at least have not tested them) but the decided to make a video tutorial and learn and teach as i go :D

I start somewhere in the middle, let me know what you think :)

part 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QFau7vAmsI

part 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQCtOam ... cZIkaDtQfw

part 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqd_NQy9R6Q

My idea is to create a detailed 9-10hrs video narrated course for THEA, the type lynda, vtc and digital tutors have for other CG software. I think something like that will attract a lot more thea users to the community, because many people shop software based on the available video courses for it. I am going to need a lot of help of course so if you can give me tips it could go a lot faster/accurate :)

cheers :)

I fully agree that the new manual is without question outstanding, but nothing beats a good voice narrated video tutorial for understanding how to do it.
Non-narrated tutorials tend to "whiz by", rapidly clicking on you're not sure what, resulting in an exposure to what can be done, but not much understanding of really how it was done.

I hope you are able to continue this good start

Great initiative

However please make sure you have the knowledge of all the ins and outs of the features before starting the tutorial, I am amazed that after 2-3 weeks you can already make tutorials for a product I'm still learning for 4 years.

I agree with Peter,

What impresses me the most, from the first impression of the video, is that it sounds like it is made by someone learning Thea himself. I'm certain that you would learn Thea faster if you put this video tutorial project aside until you are confident in the knowledge of Thea. THAT is what makes a great tutorial, not just having a voice… but a voice of experience that instills confidence in new users like ourselves.

Your frustrations are understood, the motivations are right, and the willingness is appreciated. But, I believe that the tutorials will be even more helpful if produced by one more knowledgeable than a beginner like ourselves.

In principle i fully agree with you duanekemp, the thing is that 1. nobody else knowledgeable enough has the time to make a more detailed video tutorial and 2. I am staying more motivated and am actually learning faster about the software as i make these videos :) - i really am not producing professional tutorials here :)))) , just speeding up the learning curve for utter beginners.

i also will really benefit from tips and tricks more advanced users use in their workflow... i am really thankfull for the valuable feedback of the staff here - patrick in particular 10x :)) .
