Denoise an old photo - not a render?

Smalltalk and interesting stuff about everything else.

Corner Bar question - maybe a dumb one, but is there any way of harnessing the Nvidia Optix denoiser for use outside a render? I have a little project trying to restore old photos, circa late 1800's. Many of them are suffering from good old film grain issues. Furthermore, they are generally of groups of people, so many common denoising solutions end up bluring the facial features too much. I can do OK with Photoshop and Lightroom, but just wondering if maybe I'm missing a better option. If not Optix, anyone know of any other software or plugin I might try out?

Come to think of it, I imagine such an option might also be useful for cleaning up old renders.

I'll attach an example of what I'm dealing with.

What a shame it is to denoise these photos... They are wonderful.
