Many years ago my first model I did in Sketchup was a steam punk R2D2, recently I'm been playing with Wings3D so it seemed only right to have a go with R2!
Its a bit of a mix of Sketchup and Wings3D, , it imported back into Sketchup with no issues as a 3DS, its a mix of Wings uv mapping and some Fredo ThruPaint for some parts.

Presto MC, it ran for 5 minutes, Thea IBL Studio from the library
Wings has a KT exporter so in theory it could export to Inspire Render, sadly its wayyyyyyyyyyyy out of my price range of zilch!

The model itself looks very good!
I have to play with ThruPaint and Substance Painter one day.

I mainly wanted to improve my uv mapping, WrapR is good enough but Wings3D is free and exports back into SU just fine, although the scale is an issue at first.
ThruPaint is great for quick mapping changes on irregular shapes, I'd like to get Substance Painter at some point, I need to upgrade my system first

Substance painter is cool, but complex. I prefer substance designer, though for this sort of workpainter should be more suitable

Ah, those were the days. I still have the camera mapping tutorial you did with him - under a freeway or something.

If you have played with Blender 2.8x, can you comment on ease of use between Wings3D and Blender 2.8x? I think Blender has really been transformed.

Well done!

I forgot all about that scene, how things have changed :)

Blender; nothing seems to stick with me, I do the tutorials and days later I've totally forgotten what I've learnt
If you plan on taking a look at Wings, get version 2.2.4, the one classed as "stable" isn't on Windows 10, tool tips don't work which are very important if you are starting out also a hang as you close Wings
At some point I'd imagine Trimble will pull Make totally so hence why I'm dabbling with free stuff :)

Its easy to develop plugins for Wings3D
