Sandro,

I should have thought about instancing. However, displacement is crucial for some materials. Is it going to be available for presto? And procedurals?

So many more questions...

Displacement is probably the hardes feature to implement for GPU.

Lol Notareal, so I guess the team will easily do it... we just have to wait a bit!

These are VERY informative tests, thank you for posting them. I've got a GTX780 on my desktop and dual 780m's on my laptop, so I can't wait to try out the new presto. The current Presto is besting most of my BSD render times now, so with the speed increase of 1.3, I might not use BSD anymore!

Just for anyone interested, and let me say, this really makes no sense at all to me, but my single 780 desktop is faster than my dual 780m's on my laptop for exterior scenes (only by a few seconds) BUT my dual 780m's on the laptop are faster than the single desktop 780 on interior scenes. This has been the case across many scenes. And again, we're talking just a few seconds here. All in all it's a wash. So, my point is, that if you are trying to get mobile performance of the single 780 get dual 780m's and disable SLI in the control panel.
Best Regards,

Ryan

thanks for these tests
What I understand is that Presto Biased can balance specular and diffuse bounces and and leveling the missing diffuse illumination with Ambient Occlusion

What about direct lighting? I mean zero caustics but with specular control (trace depth)

Also how to create the classic AO effect on corners?

Im sorry for asking but this new version of THEA thast coming will support CPU+GPU option for rendering?
CPU power and GPU rendering at the same time?

v1.3 can render with Presto MC/BSD engine using both GPU+CPU, pure GPU or pure CPU.

This is something new!
I dont know if any other rendering engine is capable of using GPU and PCU at the same time?
This would have a drastic impact on rendering times since you can use your GTX card.
What aboth memory limitations of the GPU?

No change on that at the moment. For announced features you can watch the Thea Render v1.3 Technology Preview video, not to forget also more detailed Micro Roughness, Sampling Improvements for Presto and Presto GPU SSS/Volumetrics Support.
