And me thinking this had to do with fake bevels... If anyone is interested in a fake bevels setup, download the material above...

The model I rendered with wasn't beveled...

@jql: cool will look at it.

i have the soft edge plugin for c4d. it uses normal maps to generate fake beveled edges per material. but it only carrys over to thea if i bake it down :(

I'd really appreciate if we'd get a native soft edge shader in Thea too like most other render engines have as well.
Thea developers, count this as a feature request. 8-)

We have, try looking for "Fresnel Ramp" procedural. There are some topics about it on the forum. Basic settings work best, also use it in diffuse channel and works best without any reflection color. Also set roughness quite high around 40-50 or more.

Soft edge shader, not fresnel ramp.

The soft edge shader is what has been discussed before as a bevel procedural.

Ah okay, i interpreted it as shader effect. But indeed a bevel edge procedural would be very welcome. They have the knowledge as Kerkythe even did have it.
