Hi all,

Spent some time in adding a little details to my model and a new idea..:) Another one is cooking with a slightly different color combination. Have another variation of the idea... Hopefully will be able to post that too.. And i like Notpix's idea...:)

* Edit: This second render is done in tr1 (the first was in final gathering preset). The most remarkable feature apart from its ability to change skin colour for a chameleon is its tongue length (which is more than double its body size) it is a really lazy creature and depends on its agile tongue to catch its prey. The tip is thick and fleshy.. My Chameleon's tongue tip is a bulb to which a moth is attracted.. The modelling and scene setup is done all in sketchup.

(and yeah tr1 offers better radial glow to the lights ;))

*Edit 2: Let this one cook over night... at a larger resolution around 60 passes tr1. No post pro. All Thea.

Glad to have the extra couple of days to get things looking sorta right.

I don't think that I'd do justice to a chameleon by trying to model one in the time allowed, I ain't quick/good enough :)

So, I thought what will immediately bring a chameleon to mind. The tail is a good example, and the one I chose to go with, the tongue was another possibility.

The textures are totally thea procedurals, and after modelling taking all of 20 mins or so, the texturing and background took the time. There are two meshes in the model, a central spiral, and then cubes copied to the points. I did a couple with spheres copied, but the cubes looked better in my opinion in the finish.

Hope you like 'em, learned a fair bit on the way :)

I would just like to say that NONE of these entries are lame. I am amazed at the styles, imagination and interpretation of our community. Every artist is never happy with his/her own creation, they tend to be their own harshest critic. Obviously, someone will win. However, why not have the option to use multiple splash screens of your choice? Anyway, I like what I have seen and a round of applause to all who submitted.
