Just thinking about adding to my pile of boxes humming away in the corner with my next pay check,
i am not to shure weather i could get three hex core i7,s cheaper, assembled and ready to run any where,
my only other thought is can i get thea client nodes to automatically run when i turn on each system,
so i dont have to get monitors for each one and manually start the Thea clients

you can get it running as a service
viewtopic.php?f=91&t=6677
I just boot up my laptop and walk away
Drawback is if for some reason the server shuts down without stopping the client it'll just keep on going and you have to stop the service, sometimes it'll stop and restart with a new render but not always

Program can be run as a service without any additional programs
http://twigstechtips.blogspot.com/2011/ ... rvice.html
With sc one have full controll on every aspect... failures/triggers and so.

Quote:
DESCRIPTION:
SC is a command line program used for communicating with the
Service Control Manager and services.
USAGE:
sc <server> [command] [service name] <option1> <option2>...

The option <server> has the form "\\ServerName"
Further help on commands can be obtained by typing: "sc [command]"
Commands:
query-----------Queries the status for a service, or
enumerates the status for types of services.
queryex---------Queries the extended status for a service, or
enumerates the status for types of services.
start-----------Starts a service.
pause-----------Sends a PAUSE control request to a service.

Maybe this would be enough easy (using srvstart)
http://www.howtogeek.com/50786/using-sr ... s-service/
http://www.nick.rozanski.org.uk/software (look for SRVSTART.EXE)
http://rozanski.org.uk/services

Use "C:\Program Files\Thea Render\thea.exe" -client if you want to start Thea as client mode (note have not actually made Thea run as service, but I think should be possible).

Alternatively, you could configure Win 7 to start in "kiosk" mode and start Thea as client automatically.
