I gave up Thea after trying. I hate to see the one i cooked with 12 hours.. ooh.. it was long rendering time with TR1. After meeting Fred Moro yesterday, he preached so much how the new TR1 with Chameleon is much faster and how it supports high poly models (at the moment handling high poly in VFSU is becoming a big probelm with me). Fred showed in his smart phone his latest render and I was surprised to see the quality of 2 hour render with many imported 3ds file    . Ok ok let me look at this chameleon thingy. Last night I downloaded the upgrade and watched some of Mr. Bandis video tutorials in FB this morning before diving unto it again (i have to admit i forgotten how to use it). Noon time. I tried this model that I am using for my Vray Sketchup Tutorial Series. After two hours here is my result. This is a raw output.. I think its encouraging to see the potential :D

I am glad you have given Thea a second chance!
Nice rendering. I wonder how it would perform in BSD mode using Final Gathering only.

Nice start. Something funny with mirror... maybe a smoothing error. How is it set up?

Hey Nomeradona, welcome back to what I consider the absolute best render app available.

With your skills and a little playing around you will ace it very soon and be filling the gallery with jaw dropping art.

I will be honest with you, with regards to biased engine, i thik i will not even give a try for the moment.. I am mostly interested with the unbiased aspect of Thea which the edge over the other engines (maxwell, vray)...but maybe in the future once i got the hang of it. as you know, tweaking biased render is a bit tricky..

yeah thanks pete.. i think that encouragement will boost this uphill battle. whenever i produce poor render with long render time, that will hit me.. but im very much please with the baby steps, i think its not that difficult to learn.. Im actually glad to see the tremendous speed of this new chameleon... im beginning to change color too. but still so many questions lurking on my head. but i guess i will learn it one at a time. thanks for your words once again.

Is it made of glass with a reflective back surface or just fully covered with a "mirror" material? Later might give some funny reflections from edges.

I covered with mirror material. the model was splayed in the corner.. its like a beheaded squashed pyramid.. so the very top is flat but the borders are splayed... maybe i will try to look at it again.
