Would have been nice to have a more open beta. Just kinda hard i guess to stop peeps flaming the same issues already being resolved. Must be getting pretty close? So after google 3d base camp? (4th of September?)

Just curious as to know why others who already own a license or two with potentially potent rigs and other configs are sort of kept out of this tight/ closed beta loop? (just an assumption) As i know many of us have tried to participate showing the enthusiasm .
Nice to see the final product i guess (but i guess you cant define it as a final to any extent?)

Is it even comparable to gpgpu? As i know MLT is looking pretty good on the octane side putting render engines on the same path. I guess the complexity of such engines is more easily attained through use of more feature filled complex cpu instructions... ( got two x5680's here on an sr2 just dieing to see what it can do.) Hopefully efficient or fast enough to see more animations from more people.

We are also resisting (somehow) of publishing a quick revision to the end users. But the end users are already customers and do use Thea in commercial work; stability is more precious than features. Another reason was that we didn't want to make available the new revision before updating the website. :)

best wishes

Would there be any way of signing up for beta, as some of us don't rely on the software from a commercial standpoint? Not meaning to sound to impatient, would just rather contribute and become more involved with helping Thea. Was helping octane for a while, but considered and always preferred Thea render gui and functionality more...

I am afraid that is not possible although it depends on how the beta testing team
is evolved over time... For example, new beta testers will join now due to upcoming
Modo plugin. One reason that we don't want this group to become too big is because
it becomes also totally uncontrolled. Changes do happen though as some beta testers
do not have the time anymore to be involved, so they are replaced from time to time.

greetings

So what time on 3rd or 4th are you looking at releasing interactive update?

If I was him, I would present all about Thea on the first 2 days, except for the IR. Then, on the last day (today) I would show the IR in action to cause a big last impact ;) don't know if that was the strategy though.

I'm also looking very much forward to this upcoming version!

But take it easy on the release - just do it as fast as possible

But as it's a unconference format... At an unconference, session topics are decided upon at the event, by the attendees themselves. Anyhow here are some feelings after pete's session viewtopic.php?f=24&t=3401&p=25907

Thanks for sharing. I bet the "unconference" model is a hard way to tryout people and software, since there is no "plan", no "escape plan", no "plan-b", etc... so I'm glad Pete and Thea we're up to the challenge, it is well deserved.
(and yes... Peter does seem a little different from the avatar ;) but it's him, there are familiar traces :) )
