This new tool is rising many questions and ideas, that's great !

- Will it be possible in some way to link .skm material to Thea library material ? The integration will be perfect, if for example we can use a material called something like "light.skm" (that the user had previously set up) on an object, and it automaticaly turn into an emmiter in the Thea window.

- Could the sketchup style (monochrome, shaded with textures, etc...) be linked to Thea4Su, in order to be able to switch from a conceptual model (clay render) to a full photorealistic one, easily ? I remember a free plugin for POVRay (Su2Pov), that was able to do that, and that was really convenient... In an architectural design process, there is a real need for quick clay model, that could be explored in IR mode, and so far, it's not so easy to do so in Thea, whithout modifying the whole model.

If this is possible, the last missing point will be a tool to render sketchup sections, and then Su4Thea will become "The Perfect Rendering Plugin" !

SKM Link
The idea of linking Thea library materials with SKM files is quite old. Thea SDK is providing all necessary support, so it is "just" a matter of implementing it.

Clay render
We have added to a "to do" list. It is indeed a valuable option and relatively easy to add.

Sections support
For the time being SketchUp doesn't offer an easy access to sections. It is only possible through a selection of a section plane. Even then, the direction of the section has to be guessed.
I personally would like see this feature introduced. This requires some work on TheaSDK side as well.

This is looking amazing. Even at cpu rendering it goes quick, based off the video.

Question, I wonder how gpu-based rendering would handle the feed of this plug-in? The plug-in is getting the look and feel of Bunkspeed, and I really dig it for the simplistic look of the GUI.

I can't wait for this to come out!!!

The implementation of the GPU rendering will take into account plugins' environments. We expect it to be relatively straightforward.

We want make it simple yet powerful. The advanced options won't be visible immediately, but available when necessary. I haven't seen the Bunkspeed products before, but I do like the simplicity of the user interface!

I personally dont like bunkspeed user control, mostly the way yuo move around and select things. Thea is much better in that matter.

Anyways, the plugin is looking fantastic! Looking forward to cuda accelerated Thea

I'm looking forward to it. This video proves how fast the process is going to be.

Do not want to be (too) annoying or impatient ;)
But does the Thea team has some sort of timetable for this (much anticipated) plug in ?
I do not aspect fixed dates or so but will it be a month or will it be more likely the end of summer or even later ?
greetings, erikB

We are leaning towards the first but please note that the first version will be beta.

Best wishes
