Dear friends,

we would like to find out which is the engine that you use most of the time. This can give us some better insight about the number #1 preference of our users, independently of the integration.

Please select at most 2 engines from the list. We are going to leave the poll open for a long period to get as many votes as possible.

Best wishes

hey giannis, i already asked petros, but i don't know if the message got to you.

Im sure you heard of redshift, its a biased gpu render. Is there any chance that a GPU version of your biased render is being developed?

I have mixed feelings about this. But it is something that I am investigating in some sense. Can't say much more at the moment though.

I don't think we need yet another engine.
Presto is fast enough, no need for a GPU biaised engine. Better spend your time on having Presto support all Thea features.

I am in complete agreement here. If I would add something, that would probably be a feature/extension, not another engine (unless that was to be used as a replacement).

I too agree.

It'd also be a good idea, I think, to provide some in-depth documentation (tutorials?) on the usage of the bsd engine. Presets are nice, of course, but when it comes to biased rendering, tweaking settings really is unavoidable to obtain an optimal speed/quality balance.

What I think would be cool is that we'd be given only 2 Choices.

Either User Chooses Between a Biased/Unbiased engine, or the user chooses between rendering only with CPU, GPU or GPU+CPU

Those two are basically the Options Thea offers.

I would rather see an UI with the ability to choose from a features list that would grey out available options based on user's choices.

Quick incomplete example on the tree below:

I would like to say that BSD has been killed by developers, no major update for speed from 2 years, I thought first it is a strategy to force users to go Presto,
Developers most power goes from 2 years for Presto. BSD is an amazing rendering engine and even Vray 3 can not match its power, but unfortunately it is killed and I don't know why.
Why I use mostly Presto!!!!, it is because I see that it has a good and well know future, unlike BSD which I every release try to see if it is still in the Rendering Engines list.
If Adaptive BSD is wake up again, it would be my best rendering engine  .

Before my Titan X GPU I was mostly using AMC. Presto doesn't handle procedurals like wireframe wich I was using for simulating low quality beveled edges.

The render time compensated the modelling time for all chanfers
