Juan Carlos Uribe is using Thea Render since 2010 and has given us several great renders. We are happy to have Juan Carlos as the August featured artist and here is how he describes briefly his workflow:

I am Juan Carlos Uribe, CG Architect/Artist from Guadalajara, México. I love the fact that I can seamlessly integrate my modeling application with Thea. I model, texture and set up my cameras and illumination all inside SketchUp, but it is when I export to Thea when I feel true freedom to setup materials and illumination. I really enjoy the fact that Thea has 32 and 64 bit binaries, because I can merge several split files and have a much more detailed and integrated scene avoiding a slow viewport, also importing high-poly models in my scene.
Material setup is quite easy, I use SketchUV and Sketchup standard mapping to set up my textures and then, in Thea, enhance them in the material lab where I use multi-layered materials. I like instancing too, since now I can have millions of polys in my final scene, something I wasn´t used to but now I am really enjoying. That, along with interactive render has not only helped me to improve the quality of my images but also to speed up my workflow.
